Rhetorical Analysis of President’s Address To The Nation...

Rhetorical analysis assignment: President’s Address to the Nation Since the 9/11 attacks, the Bush administration has been calling every citizens and every nations to support his Middle East policy. Nonetheless, the U.S. has been involved in the middle-east struggle for more than half of the century, wars were waged and citizens were killed. Yet, political struggles and ideological conflicts are now worse than they were under Clinton’s presidency. As â€Å"President’s Address to the Nation† is a speech asking everybody to support the troops to keep fighting in Iraq, I, as an audience, am not persuaded at all because of his illogical fallacy in the arguments. In this essay, I will analyze how and what are the illogical fallacies he uses in the†¦show more content†¦However, procession of nuclear weapons doesn’t mean the people who process them will use them. Therefore, process of nuclear weapons will not necessarily bring nuclear attack. His argument doesn’t sound like the non-sense that it actually is if we don’t take a closer look. If we look at the first backing and the support together, we can see that it is obviously a slippery slope which when an arguer claims that an action will initiate a chain of events culminating in an undesirable event later. In the speech, the President claims that if we pull the troops out, the terrorists â€Å"will use Iraq’s resource to fuel their extremist movement†. Because of that, it will lead that â€Å"our children have to face a Middle East overrun by terrorist states and radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons.† The whole chains of events are not likely to occur that based on the initial event (pulling the troops out). First of all, Iraqis people will probably stay in civil war and fight for the resources. Therefore, it is not likely that the terrorists can use Iraqis resource to â€Å"fuel their extremist movement.† Secondly, we don’t know who will be the next president of Iraq, and that president may not necessarily a â€Å"radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons.† Thirdly, governing Iraq doesn’t mean governing the Middle East. Vignette †Creative Writing Free Essays

Standing there all alone wondering what to do and what I could see. Looking down at all the branches not even being able to see the soft green grass below me. I looked out into the distance thinking to myself I wish I was in a plane flying every day then suddenly my paranoid mother interrupted my marvellous thoughts. I started to climb down the near tower of a tree, another plane flew past, so I looked up at the wonderful war bird an f-111 the thoughts were weighing up in my head wow I thought, oh shit as I cracked a branch and fell’ is this what it feels like to fly as the sharp and course edges ripped the skin of my legs. My thoughts were stoped with a hard and rather reliving thud as I hit ground, I then got up and thought stupid mother as ravines amounts of tears were relinquished from my eyes, that’s why you don’t climb trees said my mum as I slowly crawl up the hill. The long hair of my mother becomes more visible every step I take but to my surprise my mother’s face was not red with puffs of smoke but a sympathetic look was slapped over her face as she says are u ok Michael, I didn’t know what to do so I just walked inside with my caring mother behind me holding my shoulder. As I went to go to my room my mother suddenly told me to go have a bath and my mind was thinking no water, no not on my cuts, no that will cause more rivers of tears to come gushing from my face, no I said no then my mum came over with some green looking liquid I said to my mum what is that, as the soft words of my mother said this will make the cuts get better. I thought yes a success no more pain for me to endure, so I quite graciously swung out my legs for my caring mother to attend to my wounds like a nurse attending to a patient. What the hell are you doing, cutting off my foot for as I realised my mother was pouring the liquid over my cuts, she said it might sting a bit, oh by god it was stinging it just felt like she had dropped a cinder block on my leg. Finally the tears stoped and the pain stoped and I looked down at my leg and my mother was still pouring the acidic liquid over my leg and I thought yes the pains gone as I finally stopped balling my eyes out from my skull I asked my mum what was that thinking it was some magical liquid that could make any kid cry. She then replied to me that is alcohol it makes your leg better, yea right I thought as I jumped into the bath as quick as I could to wash it off before my leg was all burned off. Then as I emerged from the bath I stuck on some old clothes and thought to myself lets go clime that tree again then I thought no I never want my mother to use that furious concrete burning acid on my body ever again. Pondering what else can I do, then in the corner of my eye I spotted the piano in the corner of my eye, yes what a perfect idea as the sun started to retreat over the leg amputating trees, so I skipped onto the piano stool ad started tho produce my master piece. I didn’t really like the long black keys I only hit the white ones on the edge of the piano so I stared to hack at the keys in some sort of order pleasing myself but that became pretty boring so I pondered what I could do next I started rocking on my stool back and forth back and forth but suddenly there was no forth as I fell backwards into that flying feeling again. No no no I thought, smack as my mum hit me across the head then I thought here comes another lecture not to rock on the stool but then this pulse of pain stuck my thought out of my head ripping through the back of my head. I looked around at the floor red hmmm as I realised oh no mums going to put that liquid on my head and burn my head off the thoughts came rushing out of my head in streams of water again. In doing so, the governor yields strong wields strong budgetary powers. Georgia has 14 Congressional districts, an increase in one seat following the 2010 United States’ Census. Executive Authority rests with the governor in the state of Georgia. The governor and the lieutenant governor presides over the senate while the House of Representatives selects their own speaker. They are elected on separate ballots to four year terms in office. Georgia recognizes all local units of government as cities so every incorporated town, no matter the size is legally a city. There are more than 25 executive departments in executive branch and hundreds of smaller boards, agencies and commissions. Legislative authority resides in the General Assembly, composed of the Senate and Representatives. The Lieutenant Governor presides over the Senate, while the House of Representatives selects their own Speaker. The Georgia Constitution mandates a maximum of 56 senators, elected from single-member districts, and a minimum of 180 representatives, apportioned among representative districts (which sometimes results in more than one representative per district); there are currently 56 senators and 180 representatives. The term of office for senators and representatives is two years. The laws enacted by the General Assembly are codified in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated. To be elected as governor a person must be at least thirty six years old and must have been a United States citizen for fifteen years and a Georgia resident for six years. Governors serve a four year term of office and may serve no more than two consecutive terms. Georgia’s judicial system consist of ascending levels of courts. The most important trial court in Georgia’s judicial branch is the superior court. The state is divided into circuits with one or more superior-court judges elected in each circuit. Local government is the oldest form of government in Georgia. There are three types of local governments in Georgia counties, cities and special districts. Georgia has four consolidated city-county governments. The House of Representatives consists of 180 members from regions around the state. Each January the House convenes to set an annual operating budget, amend the prior years budget and craft laws to address issues ranging from education reform to transportation investments. Georgia Senate each January, 56 senators meet to set an annual operating budget, amend the current years budget and craft laws that range from promoting business to keeping health care spending in check. The legislature of Georgia is the General Assembly, a bicameral body consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate has 56 members and the House has 180 members. Each member of the legislature represents geographically distinct districts from which each voter may give support to one candidate for each body. For most of its history, the state of Georgia, used an unusual county unit system by which districts were drawn such that each had the same area. However, population growth in cities across the state led to the rural population, which was in relative decline, having disproportionate power in government. Both senators and representatives have terms of two years. There are no limits on the number of terms any person may serve. The highest judiciary power in Georgia is the Supreme Court, which is composed of seven judges. The state also has a Court of Appeals made of 12 judges. Georgia is divided into 49 judicial circuits, each of which has a Superior Court consisting of local citizens numbering between two and 19 members depending on the circuit population. Under the 1983 Constitution, Georgia also has magistrate courts, probate courts, juvenile courts, state courts; the General Assembly may also authorize municipal courts. Other courts, including county recorders courts, civil courts and other agencies in existence on June 30, 1983, may continue with the same jurisdiction until otherwise provided by law. Each county in Georgia has at least one superior court, magistrate court, probate court, and where needed a state court and a juvenile court; in the absence of a state court or a juvenile court, the superior court exercises that jurisdiction.
